Area of Specialization : Mechnical Engineering

Motivating the students to build the prototype models of micromachining facility based on the basics learned from the class. It resulted in many indigenously developed setups.

Some of them are Micro-Electro-Discharge-Machine (µ-EDM) with piezoactuated tool feed and control mechanism used to machine micro features and to generate nanoparticles of required size and high yield.

Micro-Electro Chemical Discharge Machine (µ-ECDM) to machine micro features on various non-conducting engineering materials and attempted to generate non-conducting nano-particles. Micro-Abrasive Jet Machine (µ-AJM) with ball screw micro controller based tool feeding mechanism to machine various engineering materials.

Hydraulically Powered Closed Loop Micro-Machining Setup for finishing any intricate and internal features to nano level finish.

The Process

The Venus International Faculty Awards - VIFA, ( is a part of VICAM ) celebrates teaching as the noblest profession in the world by recognizing extraordinary teachers who have demonstrated excellence in engaging their students in inspiring - innovative - path breaking ways to ignite their potential. VIFA 2016 is convened by the Centre for Advanced Research and Design ( CARD ) of VIF and conducted in accordance with the VIF BOARD MEETING resolution vide F. "This award really helps in remembering and celebrating the novel profession of teaching"

Q1. What is your principles on teaching and learning?

Ans : Learning proceeds more rapidly and is retained longer by understanding the minds, wants, needs, interests and aspirations of the students. So very much essential points in the teaching learning process are well planned subject structure, organization, clear assignment plans, course evaluation procedure, terms and conditions for the attendance and glimpse of the main points to be covered and highlights of the next class and last but not the least main points for quick reference and related literatures/references.

Q2. What's the most significant change you have brought in your institution and what has been the impact?

Ans : Participatory monitoring and evaluation throughout the teaching learning process by involving the students in problem solving and motivating the students to highlights the main points learned from the previous class and make them to think the main highlights to be learned from the current class.

Q3. What's your proudest achievement in the last 5 years and why? what did you learn along the way ?

Ans : Biggest achievement in handling the large size class and motivating them to self-directed learning by proper guidance and directions. Motivating them to arrive methodology and solutions for the real-life problems of the current subjects and constructive and deliberative analysis among the students which made us to understand the behaviors, emotions, weakness and capability of the students in different situations.

Q4. Outline your plan for next 3 years?

Ans : Dedicated teaching with simplified principles, techniques and on hand monographs. Multifaceted research work and development. Development of center of excellence in Automation and control. Quality oriented research in terms of papers, more number of PhD/ MS (by research) scholars, Delivering invited talks on cutting edge areas and problem solving with industries/R&D - Defense/Private in terms of consultancy projects and sponsored projects.

Q5. What this winning mean to you?

Ans : Kind of brainwave and recognition rendered by VIFA to the faculty/researchers is really appreciating and commemorable activity of VIFA. This award really helps in remembering and celebrating the novel profession of teaching with due respect.
